COAST

Central Ohio Alpine Ski Troop (COAST) was founded in 1989 in Columbus, Ohio.  The purpose of this organization is to promote the sport of skiing among minorities with an emphasis on youth and to enhance the sport of skiing through community involvement, group participation, and educational seminars. COAST is an affiliate of the National Brotherhood of Skiers (NBS).

Thus, “The National Brotherhood of Skiers” was charted in 1974 by the founding ski clubs.  The organization was incorporated as a non-profit Illinois corporation in 1975.

The mission of the National Brotherhood of Skiers, Inc. and its’ affiliates are to:

• Promote skiing within the African American communities around the nation

• Find, select and fund high potential youth who have the ability and desire to secure a berth on a United States Ski Team
